Things to Know About SSL
Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL for short, is an encryption-based internet security protocol. This protocol, first developed by Netscape in 1995, provides confidentiality, data integrity and authentication in internet communication. SSL is considered the pioneer of TLS encryption used today. Websites with SSL/TSL encryption use the phrase HTTPS instead of HTTP. These protocols, which have a history of more than 20 years, are regularly updated. The first SSL 1.0 developed in 1995 was not put into use due to security vulnerabilities. In the same year, SSL 2.0 was put into use. However, due to security vulnerabilities in this version, 3.0 was made available a year later. Although a new version was released, SSL 2.0 version remained usable until 2011 and version 3.0 until 2015. Today, TLS 1.3 version, which was released in August 2018, is used.

What is HTTP and HTTPS? What are the Differences?
The difference between HTTP and HTTPS is the SSL certificate. The website that installs HTTPS uses SSL certificate and information is encrypted during data transfer. In HTTP, data is sent in text format and can be easily read by anyone. Using HTTPS instead of HTTP takes a big step forward in the security of site data. Without installing an SSL certificate, the website is vulnerable to data theft. While Google highlights sites using HTTPS in search results in recent years, it shows users a "Not Secure" warning on HTTP sites and puts them at the bottom of the search results.

What are SSL Certificates Used for SEO?
SSL certificate indicates whether your website is secure or not. Users can log on to a site that has an SSL certificate installed, considering this site secure, in line with their needs. However, most users of a site that does not have an SSL certificate will think that the site is not secure and will doubt the accuracy of the information they have received from there or the operation to be performed, and therefore they will not re-enter that site without SSL certificate.
